Part 2 of the Calm & Focused series. See part 1 here…
———— Lifestyle 2: Simple Meditation ————
The second skill is meditation. Odd as it might sound, I don’t talk about meditation here on the blog too often because it’s so cliche, but since everyone knows it’s a good technique for relaxation and focus, I’m including it here.

Peace,
For the next few days, I’ll be doing a mini-series on how to stay calm, relaxed and effective through reaching deeper state of relaxed awareness. As James Allen says in his book, As a Man Thinketh:
“Self control is strength, right-thought is mastery, calmness is power…”
I got the idea from a book I’m finishing up now: Find Your Focus Zone by Lucy Jo Pallidino, PhD. There’s a section in there actually called “Lifestyles of the Calm and Focus” where she talks about several techniques and behavior skills to this same effect.
The …

Peace,
While waiting on a friend in the library yesterday, I sort of “came up” with this technique to help address and resolve fears by doing a short writing. I call it Dual-Self Journaling, and it’s easy…
First, as an example, listen to this verse by Prodigy of Mobb Deep from the classic “Self-Conscience.” I heard this track for the first time a few weeks back, and it must be where I got the idea from subconsciously:
(Here he builds on how he uses his internal voice to help navigate him through …

It actually took a while to get all this together: I wanted to make a cool video to introduce new readers to the Conquer Yourself series (and hopefully get some more new readers as well), but Animoto – the service that put this video together for me – isn’t to big on user functionality. They make some dope stuff, but they don’t give their users as much control over production as I’d like…
Anyway, here’s the link the video mentioned towards the end: http://www.dotheknowledge.com/transcend/producer

Peace,
Here’s an interview I did way back in the day on Democracy Now, when Hampton University threaten to EXPEL some of my friends for doing our activist thing on campus…really for just passing out informative fliers about the prison industrial system, the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina and some of the other major issues around that time (late 2005/early 2006).
Good ol’ HU for you…
Here’s the online radio link. The audio’s right here, but click on the link to see a written transcript of me discussing the situation with Amy Goodman …

Peace!
And welcome to “Today’s Transcendence”, the daily blog for DoTheKnowledge.com, where the science (or purpose) is self-development from a spiritual perspective.
If you think about though, the term self-development is sort of a misnomer, because the true, Higher …
