Here’s a short excerpt from an old term paper I did for back in the day…it was for an advertising class I took just as I was starting to get conscious, so for the entire semester, something just didn’t feel right about doing things specifically to trigger psychological points in someone so that they would buy from you…

So here, “doing the knowledge” means living up to your standards, doing what you need to do to realize your potential and operating at “the perimeter of your circumference.” It means “stop acting in ways that are no longer appropriate for your current age and intellect level.”

Part of our drive for a romantic relationship stems from the idea that unless we have something romantic going on, our lives are incomplete or (even worse) we’re incomplete as a human being…we assume that if somebody’s single, it’s BECAUSE something is wrong with them, not because they’re working on themselves, being patient for something truly worth the investment, or anything else, which is a messed up way to look at it.

I have a history of allowing myself to be used…just like it’s difficult to make wise financial decisions in a world that conditions us for consumerism, it’s difficult to make wise relationship decisions in a world that conditions us for psychological dependency…or in the world of someone who needs you a little too much.

Currently I’m reading a book called “Healing the Shame that Binds You” by John Bradshaw….it’s helping me to process the guil and remorse I’ve had for years for how I’ve treated others in the past.

Find out how you can be helpful. It didn’t occur to me at first that being helpful was better then being the center of attention, but it turns out that if you can really find a way to be helpful, more satisfaction and praise then you know what to do with will come your way.
