What I want you do to is HONOR that in yourself: treat your desire to grow as a sacred gift that needs a special type of attention in order to flourish and grow. So here’s a few true but not-so obvious, intuitive but not-so-easy-to-remember key ideas to keep with you…

Real self-help material is not the intellectual equivalent of some feel-good movie, real self-development HURTS. Just like physical exercise hurts in order to develop your body, self-development is mental exercise that hurts in order to develop your thinking process and emotional strength.

Today’s technique is to STOP FIREFIGHTING, and by that I mean stop allowing your energy to be dictated to the random problems and dramas other people throw your way.

Think about writing – or any creative work – like delivering a baby: you just have to keep pushing that life out of you regardless of the psychological pain.

Take care of yourself…make it a priority to keep your inner world and personal needs (your health, your mind, your emotions, etc.) at an optimal level

Whenever I hear someone say, “We don’t have any leaders…we need leadership,” the first thing I say in response is “leadership is an instinctual human activity; we always have leaders whether we consciously recognize it or not.” (in fact)…when two people meet, one of the first things they figure out (unconsciously) is who’s going to be in control..
