In regards to this week’s blog talk radio show, A Beginner’s Guide to Understanding & Activating the Chakras, I’d like to take a second to put you on to the main research source I’m using for it…a book called Yoga & Psychotherapy: The Evolution of Consciousness
What makes this book so profound is that it’s an IN-DEPTH comparison between the Eastern and Western science of psychology (that’s why “yoga” and “psychotherapy” are in the title) – it builds on how the western approach comes up short in a lot of ways and then combines the two into a unified understanding.
There’s a pretty thorough section in there that discusses the Chakra concept, and that’s where the authors (there’s three of them – Swami Rama, Swami Ajaya and Rudolph Ballentine) explain how Chakras are used as a psycho-physiological framework for evaluating a person’s overall health state.
Specifically, the Chakras form an model we can use to assess how healthy we are psychologically, physically, emotionally and spiritually all at the same time…it’s an advanced holistic approach integrated into a simplified system, and that’s the genius of it…
