NOTE: My personal profile on Facebook might get permanently disabled…I keep getting warning messages for just about anything now (even “liking” the Happy Birthday comments on my own page). Just a heads up…so if I happen to “disappear” one day, you’ll know why.

Quick Productivity Tip for Using Facebook

If you have a facebook account, BOOKMARK YOUR PROFILE PAGE NOW…this way when you get on, instead of being sent to the homepage – with all the distractions and pointless information – you’ll go right to your profile so you can do what you originally intended to in the first place.

My friend calls the homepage “the Times Square of Facebook,” because with all of those videos, images & updates, it’s nothing to end up wasting hours looking at things you had no intention to…

>> check your messages,
>> send the messages you need to,
>> see your notifications
>> post whatever information you had in mind

….or whatever else you set out to do FIRST. If you want to go to the homepage to see what’s happening after that, just click on “home” in the upper right corner (you’ll find you’re not missing out on anything at all, really).

So set a bookmark for your PROFILE page, and every time you need to get on Facebook, open that instead of the normal web address.

Deeper Points to Remember

With this digital age we’re in, productivity is no longer just about “to-do” list and traditional time-management techniques, but primarily about BUILDING WALLS that shelter, protect and cultivate your attention.

Also, remember that quote by Merlin Mann:

“As much as your time and attention are finite, the demands on your time and attention are INFINITE. There’s no end to how much people can ask of you… (so) you’re ultimately the one who’s going to make decisions about how you map it out to the things that are important.”
