Thanks Claudette,

I think you hit the nail right on the head - the thing is, many people lack the self-confidence to trust in their own instincts, intuition, and reasoning capabilities.

Without getting into too much detail, it's partly because of the structure of our education system: the yes/no, corrective memorization-based model of learning. Rather than propose questions to the class, and have them discover answers themselves, students' minds are treated like empty boxes meant to be filled with predefined information.

Although we get a so-called "education", nothing is really educed (i.e: from the latin educo, meaning to bring forth from within...we could really build on this for a while.)

About the movie, I thought it was cool too - they don't really make them like that anymore, huh? :)

Peace

I def. feel you on this post. A lot of times, especially being at an age (early 20s) where most are still trying to develop their sense of self, and beliefs, its easy to fall into the beliefs of others, simply because its convenient. Often, people don't take the time out to really think about various issues, draw upon personal experiences, and observations to create there own ideals.
Just my interpretation.

Oh and cool movie reference! I do actually enjoy the Bruce Leroy film, even in all its cheesy-ness and simpleness,at certain points.
